The Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers is the only professional organisation in the United Kingdom exclusively representing fine art auctioneers and valuers as a profession, both corporately and individually.

The Society was formed in 1973 to provide a professional body for specialist firms throughout  the United Kingdom. The membership includes a significant number of the leading provincial specialist auctioneers.

The members seek to provide a comprehensive and specialist service as auctioneers and valuers of antiques, fine art, jewellery and other chattels. Between them they have an unrivalled breadth of knowledge and experience.

The Society is not a regulatory body, but it does aim to provide guidance to its members to ensure the highest possible standards of practice in all regards, and encouragement and reassurance to clients that their best interests will be served at all times.

The Society also provides an educational function to its members at both junior and senior levels.
